Possible flooring or counter top ideas

Lee Valley has some interesting material sheets that I think have great mini possibilities.

Made from polyester with a uniformly smooth texture, these 23cm x 28cm x 3mm (about 9" x 11" x 3/32") thick sheets closely mimic the appearance of natural materials. They can be cut, drilled or sanded using regular woodworking tools, and bond well with common adhesives.

They're pricey but have possibilities.
