One step forward, two steps back.....

Well, I did get the outside of the kitchen roombox painted white! Which was a good start....but things have been slow going since then.

M.E.E. held a workshop in our social room on the weekend which normally wouldn't take much of my time (since I wasn't taking it) but our newsletter editor was unable to attend so she needed someone to take pictures and I volunteered.

Tina MacDonald of our club taught the two day workshop "The Little Cabin in the Woods". She will also be teaching this at the Ontario Gathering in Oakville, Ontario, on April 12, 13 and 14.

Had other outside obligations on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday in addition to visiting my Mom every day so didn't have as much free time as I had thought I would.

Started working on the lower kitchen cabinets and discovered they weren't all the same height but think I've figured out how to get around that.

The sink for the kitchen island was to high so had to work around that....then decided the "marble" top wasn't big enough so decided to make it larger....but didn't have enough matboard to do that and the counter tops so had to find another larger piece. That worked out okay as I think the new piece is a bit better colour.

When I painted all the furniture for the kitchen, I removed all the wooden handles. Went through all my Houseworks hardware and found enough brass knobs to replace them but the holes were too big for them so decided to use the original wooden pieces and painted them bronze.

Have some great condiment bottles but they won't fit in the racks on the door of the fridge. One possible solution to that problem didn't work. Back to the drawing board.

So I think I've solved all the problems so far so hope to get work done tomorrow after I bake Mom's muffins.

On the other hand, Ann, the recipient of the kitchen is going to be away over the weekend so DS Marie won't be here when we give it to her so I've a couple more days than I had planned for.

Hope to have better news tomorrow.

Camp Mini Ha Ha 2019

The executive of Camp Mini Ha Ha have announced the project for this year's Camp at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, from September 25th to 30th.

Please check out their website and learn more about the Camp and this year's project. Although there are only 35 slots open, a certain number is reserved for newbies. But you need to apply early!

Enough already....

I'm getting so frustrated with myself and my not getting anything done mini-wise.

Two and a half weeks ago, I brought out my attic and thought it would be a good choice for completion as it only needs one light installed, the drywall finished, then fill it.

It's still sitting there. :-(

A week and a half ago, I did make this washboard for the attic. Still needs to be aged but at least I got something done.

Then last weekend I found this in the Put and Take room and grabbed it for one of my art galleries!
It's three inches tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the tail.
I found some DecoArt Extreme Sheen bronze paint in my stash and painted it.

Also had some very old FolkArt antiquing medium in my stash. It was not in very good shape so I tried it first on a small plastic horse from my stash....

Then used it on the larger one. Love it but think it could use another coat of the antiquing medium.

These two things got me sort of back in the groove but still need more of a push.

I've mentioned before Ann who runs her catering business out of my mother's building and supplies Mom with wonderful evening meals every day. I made a nursery for her first grandchild last year and have often taken miniatures over to show her. She's a big fan.

So I discussed it with my sister Shirley and we decided that I would do a kitchen for Ann. DS Marie is currently in Mexico and returns next Friday so that's my deadline....

The inside of the room is done and the cupboards have a first coat of paint so it shouldn't take too long to finish it.

Lots of goodies to fill the cupboards and fridge.

This is how the room looks with the light on. The light is one of three that Shirley gave me for Christmas a few years ago. I assume that the hole in the back wall was originally for wiring it but the cupboards will cover it.

So hopefully, this will get me back mini-ing.
